Model 2300 2″
Commercial 2″ EPF for HVAC and geothermal, MERV 14 filtration at the lowest pressure drop in class, with proven 54% fan energy savings.
The Model 2300 2″ is engineered for commercial and geothermal HVAC operating at face velocities of 500 FPM or higher. Its patented Electronic Polarization Filtration delivers MERV 14 performance, including 74.73% capture of PM0.1 ultrafine particles, with lower resistance to flow than most other 2″ filters, meaning longer pad life, lower energy cost and longer service life on the blower. An independent 12-week field study confirmed 54% reduction in total fan energy vs. a standard 2-bank configuration.
How the 2300 goes into an air handler
The 2″ cabinet slides into a standard filter rack and seats flush; a single low-voltage line daisy-chains a bank of units.

Independent 12-Week Study: Up to 54% Reduction in Fan Energy
An international real estate holding company conducted a rigorous 3-month field study comparing the ECOairflow Model 2300 against a standard 2-bank configuration, a MERV 8 pre-filter combined with a MERV 14 bag filter, in two identical air handlers. Fan speed was adjusted via VFD to maintain identical airflow throughout.
- Constant performance: The conventional filter train showed a sharp week-over-week increase in energy demand as it loaded. The Model 2300 maintained near-constant power levels throughout the 12-week cycle.
- Fan affinity laws: Even small reductions in airflow resistance produce disproportionately large reductions in fan energy, the Model 2300's low ΔP directly amplifies savings.
- Slower loading: Patented glass fiber mesh attracts particles by electromagnetic attraction rather than blocking them on a single surface, resulting in much slower loading and much higher efficiency.
- Lower resistance = lower fan speed = lower energy cost. Reduced ΔP also reduces wear on blower motors and extends equipment life.
Performance Well Beyond the MERV Scale
MERV ratings measure filtration performance down to 0.3 microns only. The most dangerous airborne pollutants, PM0.1 ultrafine particles, are entirely outside the MERV scale. By particle count, over 90% of indoor air particles are smaller than 0.5 µm, and standard mechanical filters provide little protection in this range.
Why PM0.1 Particles Threaten Health
- Bypass the body's natural lung defences
- Can enter the bloodstream and reach the heart, liver, kidneys and brain
- Carry toxic chemicals as a delivery vehicle
- Linked to cardiovascular disease, neurodegeneration, diabetes and cancer
- Particles in this range include viruses, wildfire smoke, vehicle exhaust, brake and tyre wear, industrial dust, microplastics, VOCs and radon decay products (RDP)
Model 2300 PM0.1 Advantage
- 74.73% PM0.1 capture, lab tested under controlled conditions
- 50% more effective than HEPA at PM0.1 particle size
- Capture range: PM 10 down to 0.001 µm
- Supports ASHRAE 241 (2023) infection risk mitigation strategy at MERV-14A
- Harvard studies link better IAQ to 8–11% measurable increase in employee productivity
LEED, Net Zero & ASHRAE Compliance
The Model 2300's permanent aluminum frame and low-ΔP design directly support green building and sustainability targets across a portfolio.
- LEED Credits: Supports EQ credits for IAQ & ventilation efficiency
- Net Zero Ready: Lower fan energy = directly reduced carbon footprint
- ASHRAE 90.1: Supports fan power limits & 62.1 IAQ procedure
- ASHRAE 241 (2023): At MERV-14A, strongly exceeds the minimum for infection control
- Reduced Waste: Permanent frame, only pad replaced, not full cartridge
- Longer pad life: Fewer replacements = lower maintenance labour
- Aligns with ASHRAE 62.1 IAQ Procedure, filtration over dilution
- Permanent aluminum frame: Eliminates filter cartridge waste stream; one-time capital investment

Frequently asked questions
Good to knowThe Model 2300 2″ uses Electronic Polarization Filtration, a sealed 24V field that polarises particles, which a loose-fibre pad then traps by static attraction. HEPA uses a tight pleated weave to sieve particles mechanically. Independent testing shows the Model 2300 captures 74.73% of PM0.1 particles vs. 49.19% for HEPA, 50% more effective, at a fraction of the pressure penalty. The lower ΔP (0.13–0.37 in. w.g.) translates directly into fan energy savings.
An independent study compared the Model 2300 against a standard MERV 8 pre-filter + MERV 14 bag filter 2-bank configuration in identical air handlers. Over 12 weeks, the conventional system consumed 12,795 kWh while the Model 2300 consumed just 5,940 kWh, a 54% reduction in total fan energy. The conventional train showed a consistent week-over-week increase in power demand as it loaded; the Model 2300 maintained near-constant power throughout thanks to its electromagnetic attraction design.
No. Every ECOairflow filter, including the Model 2300 2″, is independently certified as compliant with UL2998, the Zero Ozone Standard. The hermetically sealed electronics never produce ions or corona discharge, and device ozone emission is held below .0005 ppm.
